Impromptu Comedy Show Ft. Will Smith, Dave Chappelle, Katt Williams

Last Night (September 19, 2018), a crowd of under 200 gathered @ LA’s private venue, ‘The Peppermint Club’ for a 3 ½ hour impromptu comedy throwdown – featuring some of the industry’s greatest legends.

The unexpected ‘Comedy Fightclub’ organized by ‘The Peppermint Club’ Co-Owners Brian Toll & John Terzian (also Co-Founder of H.Wood Group), was spurred on by a segment taping for Will Smith’s new hit TV series ‘Bucket List’. Smith announced to the audience that his 50th birthday bucket list included performing LIVE standup and that the experience would be taped for his upcoming show.

Smith was accompanied by wife, Jada Pinkett Smith and daughter, Willow in support of his first-ever standup set.

Additional performances were made by comedians Dave Chappelle, Katt Williams, Donnell Rawlings, Michael Che, Michelle Wolf, Ashley Barnhill, Mohammed Amer and Jon Stewart. Special guests included Lebron James and the musical stylings of John Mayer.

Will Smith’s standup revolved around home life, career and social media while also performing a rap bit for the grand finale.

Dave Chappelle’s set included mockery of ‘The Secret’ and cracks about Louis C.K., Jamie Foxx, Aziz Ansari, John Mayer, Kanye West and Jack Johnson.

Katt Williams sang a hopeful tune for Lebron’s Laker homecoming.

Michelle Wolf tackled topics of women’s issues and gender divide.

Jon Stewart’s jokes surrounded Trump, age and cultural divide.

Michael Che’s material centered around NYC and the hilarity that makes it the ultimate ‘drinking town’.

John Mayer played background guitar for the duration of the performances, throwing in some standup bits – featuring renditions of ‘Footloose’, ‘Caddyshack’ with covers from Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Prince and Jeff Buckley.

Dave Chappelle, Katt Williams and John Mayer also created a song called, ‘White Feelings’ which was unanimously deemed ‘Grammy worthy’ by the crowd.

Some of the audience members took to Twitter after witnessing ‘arguably the best night in comedy ever.’

What was the most spontaneous, rare comedy show is now a thing of memory – maybe until the episode launch of Will Smith’s ‘Bucket List’. The evening’s mandatory lockout of mobile devices leaves everyone in anticipation of Smith’s series launch.
