On Saturday (December 21, 2019), Eddie Murphy appeared on SNL’s holiday edition broadcast for the first time in 35 years. Murphy delivered his opening monologue alongside Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan and Kenan Thompson, as he went on to perform several hilarious sketches with the SNL cast, LIVE from Rockefeller Center.
Murphy even brought back nostalgic character appearances from Gumby, Mr. Robinson and Velvet Jones.
His monumental SNL return helped the show top its charts with their highest-watched ratings in three years – with just under 10 million viewers.
