Comedic legend, Eddie Murphy has recently closed a reported $70M deal with Netflix. Murphy has big plans to launch multiple comedy specials with the streaming platform.

The Oscar-nominated actor has hinted at a standup return before, both as a guest on Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee’ and during a screening of his ‘Comedians’ appearance at the Paley Center for Media in LA.

‘I’m going to do [standup] again..everything has to be right. You have to get up there and start working out. Still gotta go to the comedy club.’ – Eddie Murphy (Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee’)

‘You’ve got to start it all over again, but there’s no way around that process; you have to go do it that way. We’re talking about a lot of rust. Actually, I think I would be like a fish to water; it’s who I am.’ – Eddie Murphy (‘Comedians’, Paley Center for Media)

Murphy also revealed Don Rickles asked him to return to stand-up before his death in 2017.

It comes as no surprise that thoughts of a potential comeback have been on Murphy’s mind for quite some time. One thing’s for sure, fans everywhere look forward to seeing their favorite comedic legend back on center stage.
