Mike Epps To Host NBA’s DeMarcus Cousins ‘Boogie Comedy Slam’ Special

NBA player, DeMarcus Cousins is bringing back his 3rd Annual ‘Boogie Comedy Slam’ on April 11th @ Paramount Theatre. Directed by Leslie Small and Produced by Nickel Creative Agency, the set will be taped for the first time in front of a LIVE audience in Oakland, CA and turned into a special. Mike Epps will also host and executive produce alongside Cousins.

The event lineup will include Mike Epps, Karlous Miller, Tony Roberts, Red Grant, Gary Owen and Lewis Belt.

Cousins desire to get into comedy has been vastly influenced by Shaq, “The [All Star Comedy Jam] was definitely my inspiration. I have always been a fan of standup comedy specials in general, especially [Shaq’s]. We tested it out doing shows the last two years [Sacramento and New Orleans] but now we have upgraded, we have a whole production team and are going to film this one in Oakland. Hopefully it’s a success like his.”

On Mike Epps being featured in the upcoming event, Cousins reflects on his favorite role from the comedian, “It’s got to be Mike Epps as Reggie White [All About The Benjamins]. Loved him in that role – hilarious.”

The Golden State Warriors icon has yet to discuss which platform the special will air on. However, we speculate that it could end up on none other than Netflix.
