That’s right – Tiffany Haddish is hosting the 2018 MTV Awards…and ‘she ready’!
If you haven’t heard, Haddish announced her hosting debut on Instagram back in February.
The excitement is picking back up now that MTV launched her official promo over the weekend.
‘The Last Black Unicorn’ best-selling author will be the network’s first female host since 2015’s Amy Schumer. She assures us that it won’t be another ‘boring-ass awards show’ either, ‘it’s gonna be hilarious’. This will be the second year that MTV will recognize non gender-specific categories of TV Programs, Performances and Film. If this is anything like Haddish’s SNL hosting gig, the televised event will be guaranteed fire.
Haddish is currently co-stars with Tracy Morgan in TBS’s ‘The Last OG’ while preparing for the launch of Kevin Hart’s ‘Night School’. It was just last year that she was awarded ‘Best Supporting Actress’ by NY Film Critics Circle for her performance in ‘Girls Trip’ (2017). Following the role of a lifetime was her ‘She Ready’ standup special on Showtime. The breakout star also made history as the first black comedienne to host SNL, with rave reviews. Most recently, Haddish signed her She Ready Production Co. to a 2-year contract with HBO. Netflix has also recruited her for an upcoming animated series, ‘Tuca and Bertie’.
The 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards will air on Monday, June 19th at 9pm EST. Nominees are still TBA, so go vote for your favorites!
