Funny man, Mike Epps has swapped his sillies for scares, starring in an upcoming Michael Carney thriller, ‘.38’ alongside Terrence Howard and Paula Patton. Extensive details regarding the film have yet to be released, but The Hollywood Reporter revealed the following plot line Tuesday, March 14th, 2017:
“The film ‘.38’ features a St. Louis rookie cop who witnesses a brutal murder during his first night on the job. Following the trauma, the film examines the bonds of loyalty, work and family that binds together cops, both black and white.
Terrence Howard plays a detective whose daughter goes missing on the fateful night; Epps portrays a seasoned cop with kin connection to a neighborhood gang leader; and Patton plays Epps’ partner who tracks down the killer with St. Louis P.D.”
Michael Carney, Tim Clemente and Alexander Foard collaboratively scripted the film and it will be directed by Carney.
Epps recently wrapped shooting ‘Death Wish’ opposite Bruce Willis and is currently mid-way through his Festival of Laughs comedy tour with various acts such as Bruce Bruce, Rickey Smiley, Felipe Esparza, Arnez J and Sommore. His most memorable films include Next Friday (2000), Friday After Next (2002), and All About the Benjamins (2002).
Howard is most-known for his starring role in Fox’s hit TV show, ‘Empire’. His most noteworthy films include Hustle & Flow (2005), Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (2005), Four Brothers (2005), and his Oscar-winning film, Crash (2004).
Patton’s top credits include Warcraft (2016), Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol (2011), Déjà vu (2006) and 2 Guns (2013) with Denzel Washington.
The film is scheduled to begin shooting in May (2017) in Thomasville, Georgia.
