Lately, the Chris Rock and Adam Sandler Netflix comedy has everyone talking. On-screen, the pair’s co-star history goes back to 90’s SNL. Historically, the two comedy heavy-hitters have become exceptional friends over the years. Their long-standing relationship creates comic gold. In fact, Director, Robert Smigel can attest to that after 20 years of industry collaborations.
For the film, Smigel, Rock and Sandler join forces with Happy Madison Productions‘ Allen Covert. In short, the plot features the weeks leading up to the wedding between Adam Sandler’s daughter and Chris Rock’s son. Collaboratively, Sandler and Smigel co-wrote the film.
Collectively, this production will mark the 3rd Happy Madison collaboration between Sandler and Rock. Their prior movies include ‘Grown Ups’, ‘Grown Ups 2’ and ‘The Longest Yard’.
Below is an official statement from Ted Sarandos (Netflix’s Chief Content Officer):
“Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are cornerstones of the Netflix comedy family and we are over the moon about these two legends reuniting to give our members worldwide a healthy dose of the hilarity that they have been creating together for years. Similar in the romantic comedy tone of Sandler’s most recent film Sandy Wexler, this film will be the perfect vehicle for Sandler and Rock and their millions of fans around the world.”
Reportedly, production kicks off this summer in Long Island, NY with the Netflix premiere set for Spring 2018.
