The new single-camera comedy, ‘Mixed-ish’ will join ‘Grown-ish’ on Freeform as the second ‘Black-ish’ spinoff.

Produced by ABC and written by Peter Saji and Kenya Barris, the sitcom will feature Rainbow Johnson’s (Trace Ellis Ross) experience growing up in a mixed-race family during the 80’s after Rainbow (Bow’s) parents decide to move to suburbia from a hippie commune. Bow and her parents struggle with challenges of assimilation and identity within their new community as they strive to better provide for their family.

The series’ cast includes Arica Himmel (Bow Johnson), Tika Sumpter (Alicia Johnson), Christina Anthony (Denise), Mykal-Michelle Harris (Santamonica Johnson) and Ethan Childress (Johan Johnson).

Mixed-Ish is executive produced by Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson, Randall Winston, Brian Dobbins (Artists First), Laurence Fishburne (Cinema Gypsy) and Helen Sugland (Cinema Gypsy).

In addition to the newly-created show, Black-Ish was recently renewed for Season 6. ABC intends to air the Black-Ish episode ‘Becoming Bow’ as a prequel pilot to the new series.
