Leslie Jones is bringing her signature humor to Netflix for her second overall comedy special. The untitled special will be taped in front of a LIVE Washington, DC audience at Warner Center – with 2 shows on September 10, 2019.
Jones made the announcement on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE where she discussed her career backstory and comedy come-up. Starting standup at age 19, Jones reflects on her first experience on stage,
‘I can’t explain it to you, as soon as I touched the mic, I knew that was what I was supposed to do for the rest of my life. As soon as I walked off the stage, I was like – I don’t know how I’m gonna do it, but I’m gonna to be a comedian.’
Her last hour-long Showtime standup special, Problem Child: Leslie Jones (2010), was filmed in Hollywood, CA and showcased her hysterically raw, unparalleled humor.
Jones has written for Def Comedy Jam (2006), BET Awards (2014, 2017), performed at Laugh Factory (2012), BET’s ComicView and even toured with Katt Williams on his It’s Pimpin’, Pimpin’ Tour (2008). Her most memorable films include National Security (2003), Repos (2006), Top 5 (2014), Trainwreck (2015), Masterminds (2016), Ghostbusters (2016).
She currently appears as a regular cast member on SNL (2014-2019), having written over 32 episodes and received an Emmy nomination for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series’.
