Breakout comedy star, Issa Rae, takes a major leap onto the big screen, making her first full length feature debut in Good Universe’s independent film, “Empress of Serenity”.
Written and directed by Jesse Andrews, the picture is derived from a David Foster Wallace’s essay, “An Amazingly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again”.
The edgy comedy follows an animal rights lawyer (Bill Hader) who is dragged along on a 45-day cruise by his widowed father. His cabin-neighbor, Michelle (Issa Rae), a ‘reclusive kindred spirit’, becomes an unlikely friend for Hader in his quest to win back his ex-wife.
Production is scheduled to begin in August 2017.
Issa Rae will also be returning on July 23rd for the second season return of HBO’s ‘Insecure’.
