Chris Rock and Adam Sandler’s on-screen, co-star history goes back to SNL days in the 90’s. The two comedy heavy-hitters have become exceptional friends over the years. Their long-standing relationship creates comic gold – a fact that Director, Robert Smigel can attest to after 20 years of industry collaborations.
Smigel, Rock and Sandler join forces with Happy Madison Productions‘ Allen Covert for the Netflix Original Comedy, ‘The Week Of’.
Co-written by Sandler and Smigel, the plot features Adam Sandler’s daughter about to marry Chris Rock’s son – the film focuses on the week leading up to the wedding.
This production will mark the 3rd Happy Madison collaboration between Sandler and Rock. Their prior join-features include ‘Grown Ups’, ‘Grown Ups 2’ and ‘The Longest Yard’.
“Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are cornerstones of the Netflix comedy family and we are over the moon about these two legends reuniting to give our members worldwide a healthy dose of the hilarity that they have been creating together for years. Similar in the romantic comedy tone of Sandler’s most recent film Sandy Wexler, this film will be the perfect vehicle for Sandler and Rock and their millions of fans around the world.”
– Official Statement from Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix
