Jo-Issa Rae Diop, “Issa Rae” is changing the game entirely. Not only has she starred in one of the most noteworthy comedic shows of the year, but she has also co-written, produced, and directed it. I don’t know about you, but we think that’s a pretty killer accomplishment for the breakout season of a new hit tv series.
However, this isn’t Rae’s first achievement, she’s been steadily making big moves throughout her rising career for years; featured in Glamour Magazines “35 Under 35” 2013 list and Forbes “30 Under 30” in 2013-2014; releasing a book in February 2015 entitled, “The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl” about her successful YouTube series, “Awkward Black Girl”; developing TV series’ with ABC and HBO for Shonda Rhimes and Larry Wilmore; working on web content for Pharrell Williams, Tracy Edmonds and several others; and receiving media coverage from prominent outlets such as The New York Times, CNN, Rolling Stone, and ELLE. The success of Issa Rae’s newly acclaimed comedy series is just the tip of the iceberg for this breakout comedic star.
Issa Rae’s HBO series, ‘Insecure’ features an insightful, raunchy, and hilarious take on the life of a 20-something black woman that cuts through stereotypes with a quick-witted, sovereign spirit. Issa’s relatable humor paired with strategic Drake references make for an irresistible first season. Fans can’t get enough of this original comedy – Twitter is losing its mind over it:
